a thought to ponder...

"A lot of people go into the ministry with the combination of the gift and the calling, and it doesn't take long till they forget their calling and get all enamored with the gift."

"enamored" what does this mean?

When we get all enamored with the gift, it seems that we then take it upon ourselves to figure out how to use that gift - when, where, what for, etc. In doing this, we lose sight of the fact that we were called - not of ourselves (because of anything we did that was sooooo great) - but called by God because He wants to pick us up from our sorry state and use us for His glory.

A gift is something which we dont have to work for. A calling is something we have to do or follow. Its much more comfortable to receive a gift than to do the work.
Keep up the good work.

I start to follow God's calling. He gives me all the gifts I need. And then I often loose my contact to the Spirits leading while getting on fire with my nice gifts :-) , until I find myself running a "spiritual buiseness" by the flesh. That's a main fault I felt in last Semester as a student @CCBC Siegen. The most terrible thing is when you realiize that it's hard to get out of your own established buiseness. It all seems to depend on you and it often already does.
Galatians 2:19+20 became the turning point after this spring semester. God encouraged me again, that He has already won the race against my old identity. He will do "my" future ministry.

It's pretty sad what can happen when we take our eyes off of Jesus. We really do have BIG heads. Maybe what we need to remember is 'what is man that THOU art mindful of him'.
